Spotify Music Downloader is a free tool at https://spotifymusicdownloader.org that helps you get something useful out of a Spotify link: see what it is, listen to it, save its cover art, and, for podcasts, download the episode as an MP3.
It exists because pasting a Spotify link somewhere and getting a clear, honest answer about what you can actually do with it is harder than it should be. Plenty of sites promise more than is technically possible. This one sets out its limits on the page rather than burying them.
There is no sign-up, no installation and no charge. Open the site in a browser on a phone or a computer, paste a link, and you are done.
How the tool works
The whole thing runs in your browser. There is no back end of ours handling your link, no queue and no processing server. Your browser talks directly to the public services involved.
For a track, album, playlist or artist link, it reads the public title and the largest available cover art from Spotify's oEmbed endpoint, loads Spotify's own official player in a frame so you can listen straight away, and offers the cover art as a download.
For a podcast, it searches Apple's public podcast directory by show name, lists the recent episodes that show's publisher makes available, and downloads the episode MP3 from the publisher's own host directly to your device.
That is the entire mechanism. Knowing it makes the rest of this page easy to follow.
What we deliberately do not do
Being clear about this matters more than sounding impressive.
- Spotify's music audio is protected by digital rights management, and this tool never downloads, decrypts or converts it. Songs play through Spotify's own embedded player and nowhere else.
- No media file is hosted or re-hosted here. A podcast MP3 travels from the publisher to you without passing through any server of ours.
- No account, email address or personal profile is collected, because none is needed.
- No claim of any connection to Spotify AB or Apple Inc. is made. This site is independent of both.
How the site is run
The site is free to use and may carry advertising supplied by third-party advertising networks. What those networks receive, and how to opt out of Google's DART cookie, is set out in full in the privacy policy.
Server log files are kept, as they are on practically every hosted website, and their contents are described on the same page.
Deciding whether a particular download is lawful where you live is your responsibility. The disclaimer and the terms of service explain that boundary, and the DMCA page sets out how a rights holder can raise a complaint.
